Lombard was incorporated in 1869 and earned its nickname ‘The Lilac Village’ thanks to Colonel William Plum, who planted hundreds of lilac bushes on his property in the early 1900s. That estate is now Lilacia Park, a botanical gem that draws thousands of visitors each spring during the annual Lilac Time festival.
