Royal Fox wraps custom estate homes and a townhome enclave around the private Royal Fox Country Club on St. Charles’ east side — one of the few true golf-course communities in town, built 1988–2009.
Royal Fox occupies the northeast corner of St. Charles, east of Kirk Road and north of Route 64, directly across from the St. Charles East High School and Wredling Middle School campus corridor. The community was developed from 1988 through the 2000s around the Royal Fox Country Club — a private, Richard Nugent-designed 18-hole course founded in 1989 — and the golf-course setting still defines it: fairway-backing lots, mature landscaping, and a Monticello-styled clubhouse at the center of the neighborhood.
The housing splits into two products. Royal Fox Association 1 covers 171 custom single-family homes — estate-scale builds generally running 2,300 to 7,500 square feet with three to six bedrooms, no two alike, since there was no single production builder. The Townhomes of Royal Fox add 28 luxury townhomes on Canterbury Court, which serve as the community’s entry point. Architectural review applies to exterior work, and the association’s covenants prohibit most fencing — part of what keeps the fairway sightlines open.
Recent sales show the range: townhomes closed at $495K and $540K in 2026, mid-size singles from $610K to $800K, and a 5,400-square-foot estate on Royal Troon Court brought $1.09M in June 2026. Club membership is separate from home ownership — the club offers golf, a pool, fitness, pickleball, and dining — so buyers can choose the setting without the membership, or add it. Taxes on the estate homes commonly run into the mid-teens; we pull the actual bill on every showing.

The private club sits inside the neighborhood at 4405 Royal and Ancient Drive: a Richard Nugent-designed par-71 course of 6,816 yards that has hosted the Illinois PGA Open seven times, plus a pool, fitness center, pickleball, golf simulator, and clubhouse dining. Membership is separate from home ownership.

Kirk Road runs south to Route 38 and I-88 connections in about 20 minutes; the Geneva Metra station on the Union Pacific West line is roughly 15 minutes for hourly service to Ogilvie. O’Hare runs about 45 minutes east via Route 64 and I-90.
Plan on just over an hour to the Loop by car outside of rush, or drive-and-ride via Geneva in a comparable window with a train you can work on.
