Villa Park was incorporated in 1914 and grew steadily throughout the 20th century as a residential community. The village takes pride in its role as the birthplace of the Illinois Prairie Path, one of the nation’s first rail-to-trail conversions, which originated from the efforts of naturalist May Theilgaard Watts in 1963. The Villa Park Historical Society preserves the community’s story.
