Wesmere anchors Plainfield’s southwest side between Route 59 and Drauden Road — roughly 1,400 single-family homes built by Neumann Homes from 1995 to 2002, wrapped around a clubhouse, three pools, five stocked lakes, and its own elementary school.
Wesmere — you’ll also see it called Wesmere Country Club — is one of the communities that built modern Plainfield. Neumann Homes developed it from 1995 to 2002 on the village’s southwest side, west of Route 59 between Theodore Street and Caton Farm Road, and at roughly 1,400 single-family homes it remains one of the largest neighborhoods in town. The “country club” in the name refers to the amenity campus, not a golf course: a clubhouse with an exercise room and banquet space, three outdoor pools, tennis and basketball courts, ball fields, and about five stocked lakes threaded with walking paths.
The community is organized into a string of connected sub-neighborhoods — Wesmere Woods, Lakes, Arbor, Glen, Groves, Highlands, Oaks, Pointe, and Ridge among them — which is why MLS searches sometimes split it into several “subdivisions.” Homes run from about 1,264 to over 4,300 square feet, mostly three- to five-bedroom two-stories with attached garages, and the master association (managed by AMG Management Group) keeps fees moderate — roughly $70 to $90 a month per management-affiliated sources, which is light for this level of amenities. One boundary note: Wesmere sits near the Plainfield–Joliet line and some mapping sites file it under Joliet; the homes here carry Plainfield 60586 addresses.
On the market side, Wesmere is the definition of a steady performer. Sales over the past year ran from roughly $350,000 to $517,500 depending on size and condition, and the neighborhood generates inventory nearly every month — rare in Plainfield’s tighter subdivisions. For buyers who want established trees, real amenities, and a sub-$500K entry to a Plainfield single-family home, this is usually the first place I drive them.

The heart of Wesmere: three- and four-bedroom two-stories from the late 1990s, roughly 1,800–2,600 square feet with two-car garages. Most sales land in this band, and updated examples draw multiple offers within the first week.

The amenity campus centers on the clubhouse with its exercise room and banquet hall, flanked by three outdoor pools — enough capacity that summer weekends stay manageable even at 1,400 homes.
Wesmere’s lakes are stocked for catch-and-release fishing and ringed by walking paths — the reason “Lakes” streets carry a premium and evening walkers are a constant.
Tennis, basketball, and volleyball courts plus ball fields and six parks spread across the community, with the Plainfield Park District’s wider network minutes away.

Wesmere sits about ten minutes from downtown Plainfield’s Lockport Street and five from the Route 59 retail corridor — Costco, Meijer, and Target are all quick runs. The Springbank Aquatic Center and Prairie Activity & Recreation Center are minutes away.
Caton Farm Road and Route 59 connect to I-55 in roughly 10–15 minutes via US 30 or Route 126, with I-80 reachable through Joliet. Naperville-area employers run 25–35 minutes in normal traffic.
Drivers take I-55 north — plan 60–80 minutes to the Loop outside rush hour. Train commuters drive about 20–25 minutes to the Route 59 Metra station (BNSF line) or use Joliet’s stations on the Rock Island and Heritage Corridor lines.
